H-Communal-Societies Discussion Network

By

H-Communal-Societies Editors

"This network will be concerned with topics related to intentional communities, including the academic study of communities, participation and membership in them, and curatorship and other activities related to the preservation of historic communal sites and artifacts. By intentional communities we mean any social arrangement of three or more unrelated adults who voluntarily choose some form of cooperation usually involving a common living space and a shared economic system. Participants are expected to be academics, museum personnel, communitarians, students, and other interested parties. This list will facilitate dialogue between the various groups with an interest in communal societies that would otherwise not be possible, facilitating discussion of a number of topics, including, but not limited to, gender roles, role of the individual in a communal society, child rearing, freedom and responsibility, architecture and space, allocation of tasks, and relations with external society."
